Gone but not forgotten: Speedee.
As in McSpeedee ... as in the mascot for McDonald's long before Ronald came along.
Truth be told, until the other day, I'm afraid that Speedee *had* been forgotten -- at least by me. I believe I saw a reference in the Sunday paper to him, and I thought to myself, "how did I not know that Ronald McDonald had a forebear (or, a foremascot, as it were)?" I mean, McDonald's was one of my first McJobs back in the McDay.
It turns out this hamburger-headed guy who delivered hamburgers super fast was the original original face of the company when the McDonald boys ran things up until Ray Kroc came along and made things all corporate (and then corporate got involved and killed off Speedee because they thought 'Murica would get him confused with the Alka-seltzer Speedy ... silly silly corporate).
He who apparently can still be seen on some old old old McRestaurants, you are missed.
