Random Memorial for Monday 12/29/14

Gone but not forgotten:  Christmas in Chicago.

The holidays have all but gone, and although some traditions survived the transfer of locations in 2014 from the Windy City to Florida ... I will admit to missing the following things:

Watching snow fall from outside the bedroom window of the apartment at Wrigley.  Drinking hot chocolate whilst walking around the Lincoln Park Zoo lights.  Getting the annual Christkindlmarkt mug ... and the annual Asbach Uralt chocolate brandy candies ... and the annual WienerSchnitzel ... and the annual holiday ornament.  Purchasing cheap seconds at the Eli's Cheesecake dock sale.  Visiting with the Indiana family ... and playing Michigan rummy ... and drinking into the wee hours of the morning.  Taking what practically amounted to the *same* photograph each year of the big tree in Marshall Field's (I mean Macy's) downtown.

Mind you, I'm still very very happy with being here in the state of sunshine, but that doesn't mean that the traditions of the last dozen years can't be missed.
