Random Memorial for Monday 11/3/14

Gone but not forgotten:  your right to complain*.

[*That is, your right to complain IF you choose to not vote tomorrow.]

Look, I get it.  The system is broken.  It's a hyper-partisan environment fueled by blathering idiots who have to fill 86,400 seconds** each day on the 24 hour news cycle.  Glenn Beck even admitted it a few years ago ... he broke politics.

[**That is, 69,120 seconds, since I'm sure that 17,280 seconds are reserved for advertising, and the majority of that in the last few weeks has also featured blathering idiots.]

But if you opt out ... then they have won (and that's a non-partisan they ... because both sides are guilty of gamesmanship).  Literally, there are political operatives *at this very moment* who already have adjusted their data crunching because they have little faith that you are going to follow through on your civic duty.  After all, only 37.8% of you did in 2010.

In this day where nothing is private, here's the innovation I want to see out of Facebook.  I don't need to know for which party someone did or didn't vote, but I *do* want there to be a "bitch-block" built into the Facebook that won't allow anyone to complain and make political comments if he or she didn't participate in the process in the first place.

In other words ... vote or shut up ... as I can assure you, your complaints-not-grounded-in-participation won't be missed.
