Gone but not forgotten: the melting pot (in the FTL).
[And, no, this is not commentary on how the immigration debate makes some people forget that almost *all* us were once part of the great American tradition of being a cultural melting pot ... because I'll let the blathering idiots on the 24 hour news channels provide all of that insight. I mean, "insight".]
Instead, it's very very literal. The local Melting Pot here closed down this summer. Mind you, I only ate there once (in the end, it was too much work for too little sustenance ... and I didn't like that I had to sign the disclaimer that I was responsible for my own fondue related injuries), but it's still a little sad knowing that I can never eat there again. (You only want what you can't have and all ...)
Crocks of hot cheese ... hot oil ... and hot chocolate ... into which all manners of things could be dipped (but not any appendages [I mean digits ... it's not the seventies, for goodness' sake]) ... you will be missed.
BUT LUCKILY THERE ARE STILL FOUR MORE IN THE AREA:
