Smartwater (How. Smart. Is it!?)
Used in a sentence: "Since moving in to the 'hood, we've felt a little left out because so many neighboring properties had a sign similar to this one hanging in the windows ... prompting me to wonder ... Smartwater (How. Smart. Is it!?)"
Luckily, a recent Sunday paper helped explain that this was actually a crime prevention technique to discourage home burglaries. We missed the giveaway of 500 free kits last year, but apparently it's a "chemical and metal mix that can be permanently applied to valuables and identified later", as each bottle is "unique as a snowflake or fingerprint". And everything becomes apparent when a black light is shined on your recovered possessions.
In general, I would say that that's some pretty intelligent smartwater ... but then I'd also say that I have a feeling that anyone with a cat also probably has unique markings that will show up under a black light as well, if you know what I'm saying.
Until the next giveaway and the chance to jump on the Smartwater bandwagon, the Comcast Xfinity alarm system and a growing puppy will have to serve as the deterrents here.
