... three cheers to Dolly and Walter L, the most unselfish giving-of-themselves folks around. Their two week vacation is coming to an end, but let me tell you ... the list of things they accomplished while here is staggering (it's been a little like a team competition overhauling the domicile in prep to be judged by a panel -- in this case, the fact that the landlady was over last night for dinner).
Some back story ... they were always there for every move ... setting up Demon's room in Harrisburg back in 1998, driving the moving truck to Chicago in 2001, taking all the extra furniture during the downgrade move to Wirgleyville in 2007 and even carrying the dishes across the back porch in 2010. They couldn't really help in the "big move" (luckily there was a moving company that took care of a lot) ... so this two week trip was their way of helping.
And help they did ... there's a newly darkly stained modular bar (that he had made years ago), a newly replaced thermostat, a newly installed dishwasher, a newly created counter top and cabinet area in the pantry, a newly re imagined front porch space and ... biggest of all ... a newly built deck out the back door. Those are just the highlights.
Of course, anyone who knows these two know that it is no surprise that they turned over so much of the vacation to "projectland", because that's just the kind of quality people they are.
So hip hip hooray and a huzzah (or two ... or three) to them! I'm so lucky to have them in my life ...
