Tis the season for holiday parties ... both in the current year and twenty years ago in 1993, which is the source of this classic photo.
The location ... LVC's Underground (in between one of its many renovations). The reason for the gathering ... Wig and Buckle's annual party. The person featured in the photograph ... none other than lighting wizard Andy P (and in the shadows sitting next to him is renowned thespian Joel F). That which he's holding for the photo ... well, if you can zoom in, you can see it. If you can't, I won't mention it so as not to embarrass him.
To provide a little context ... this was the "prize" from one of two games I like to play at holiday gatherings. Based on the item, I don't think it was the one where you wrap something of value in a series of "nesting doll" style containers with tons and tons of tape, and everyone sits in a circle and passes the same gift around with everyone taking five seconds to make headway on the unwrapping, until the last person claims the prize after much much work. Nope, instead I think it was the one where everyone has a number and when your number is called throughout multiple rounds, you choose to take a prize from someone else or to take one unclaimed from the pile until the last number is called for the last time and everyone goes home with "something" (note: this is normally an individual game, but occasionally alliances can form reality-TV-style, as my gift exchange partner Jen A knew at a work party about eight years ago ... but, hey, I'm getting ahead of myself as that's a story for this time of year in 2025, the Facebook willing).
Bottom line ... in this holiday season, may you get everything for which you wish ... and, if not, just remember it's (allegedly) the thought that counts!
