Bonus Post (Gbye Chicago): Thing 44

50 Things I'll Miss About Chicago -->

Thing 44:

Listening to whichever random celebrity was leading the seventh inning stretch song when the Cubs were home.

[Woo-hoo!  Only 44 days left until the big move to Florida!]

With six of the twelve years right here in the building just a spit and a holler away from Wrigley, it became part of the routine to open the windows during the season, partly so I could gauge how soon the game would be over by hearing the "famous" people and the crowd break into the roar of "take me out to the ball game".  Between that and the strains of the national anthem and the occasional concerts (Dave Matthews ... Pearl Jam ... and a bunch of country folk to) ... I'll miss that ambient noise in the summertime.

COUNTER:  Turns out even if the move wasn't happening, the celebrity-led seventh inning stretch is a thing of the past, so I'd be missing it anyway.  Well, at least "any celebrity" ... the "rules" have changed so that now only those with a Chicago connection will be permitted to lead the crowds.
