50 Things I'll Miss About Chicago -->
Thing 36:
Being harassed by TCF Bank employees upon stepping foot on site at a Jewel.
True ... it's so convenient being located as it is in many many Jewel stores, open so many hours every day of the week (and even many holidays). And it's also true that working at a TCF inside a Jewel was my first Chicago job. [You've probably heard this story before ... moved to town on 9.10.11 and woke up the next day to get a job and an apartment in the midst of all of the 9/11 drama ... and didn't get a job of any kind for about two months until TCF rescued me off the unemployment line.] But it's the whole "Do you have an account? Do you want to open up an account? Already have an account, how about a second one?" hard-marketing approach that I'll miss the most.
COUNTER: Even some Chicagoans are going to miss their TCF bank (the company recently made a holiday announcement that they are closing 37 branches in Jewel stores) ... and I have a feeling that predatory banks are now de rigueur and probably doing business in the state of Florida.
