Gone but not forgotten: hot wings and Monday night football with the guys.
So I still have my memories, but the following things have changed ... MNF used to be on ABC when I was little ... and we used to regularly meet at the Fenwick back home (which now, like most corner properties in small towns or elsewhere nowadays, is a drugstore parking lot -- and, based on this pic I found on google, maybe it's because the place burned down?) ... and Hank sang "are you ready for some football" instead of talking about his rowdy friends coming over or instead of associating political figures with any historical ones (ahem?) ... and none of us had kids (I don't think) or nearly the worries or responsibilities that we all have now ...
But all that change doesn't matter, because I can still remember as if it wasn't nearly 20 years ago -- just the bunch of us gathering after work (or whatever) for a few pitchers of beer and a few dozen hot wings that seemed to get increasingly hotter as the season went along -- and lots and lots of napkins.
The games themselves might already be gone from memory, but the time spent watching them with good friends will always be missed.
