Whine and go seek.
Used in a sentence: "Murder (pictured here) has started this much more since the other cats have passed (her littermate Mystery in '10 and she-who-ran-the-household Mauler in '12), but it gets exponentially worse in the days after returning from a week's vacation -- she'll wake herself up from one of her many many naps and start whining to see if anyone is home to come find her -- a game of whine and go seek, if you will."
Which can be fun or can be distracting to others since I work from home in the virtual office and suddenly a caterwauling breaks out (I now appreciate where that word came from). Now to resist the urge to respond to her whining with ... oh, I don't know ... another cat or a dog. Must ... keep ... to a two pet ... household ...
