Random Scandal Sheet for Sunday 9/30/12

What Chicago is talking about this week ...

... this guy -- who may have actually been a turncoat in the recent Chicago school strike.

Which is settled, by the way, although the bad blood and the hard decisions about how to save money are still ahead.  But in the heat of the moment and the passion of the making of the signs, this Kelly HS teacher lost the "gh" in his "neiborhood".

And without choosing sides in that battle, let's just all agree that, when it comes to publicly debating the quality of those instructing our youth combined with the fact that you might be 7ft tall and are likely to really have your strike sign be seen and covered on the news, taking a little bit of extra time to proofread your placard might just be a worthwhile step.

Don't get me wrong -- I know we all make mistakes (you'll find plenty of typos that get past me in my posts).  But there's just a time and a place for a little bit of extra caution -- and my point is that this was that time and that place.  (Also -- I checked, and this is not the British spelling -- that's neighbourhood -- not that we're British on the south side anyway ...)
