Random Memorial for Monday 2/27/12

Gone but not forgotten: bored federal prisoners.

It is a bit of odd timing, since my post last Monday was about how chain gangs and last meals were being removed from prison life, but the news today is all about how MP3 players are now going to be available for purchase in federal prisons as a means of combating boredom for those in lockup. Most interesting to me -- it will be someone's job to make sure that the songs available for purchase on the prison playlist are "approved" (not too explicit, obscene or disruptive to the day to day life behind bars).

The old days of having to have waited for Johnny Cash to actually show up to hear Folsom Prison Blues at Folsom Prison will not be missed (assuming, as a prisoner, you're a Man in Black fan, of course).

META AS IT MAY BE: HERE's LAST WEEK's POST:
