Random Flashback for Friday 10/21/11

Said La Vie Collegienne's reviewer of this piece ... "It's a difficult thing to take an old, almost cliche story and make it into a suspenseful stage performance, but that's exactly what is done here."

The closing piece of Through a Shattered Looking Glass ... a dramatization of that "cliche story" -- The Monkey's Paw. (If you look closely, you can see the prop with the mystical powers grasped in the only hand of William Trexler's Sergeant-Major Morris -- and you don't have to look too close to see his other arm pinned back behind the jacket to demonstrate the extent of our "special effects" department.) Also present is Rob Gale, jailed in the opening scene of the first play of the evening and destined to not survive to the final scene.

And if you don't know this story of a cautionary tale of "careful what you wish for" ... it's perfect for this time of year -- just like it was perfect for the fall play twenty years ago in October, 1991.
