Random Soapbox for Saturday 9/17/16

I don't mean to go off on a rave here, but ...

[... look at me, raving TWICE in one month (when normally I only rave once and rant the rest of the time) ...]

... the third annual BATMAN DAY kind of snuck up on me, and I can't NOT comment on it in a positive way.

So three cheers to the Batman!

As you may know, I have a small "Batcave" where I display my collection of all things Bat gathered through the years (really it's just a section of the enclosed porch that doubles as a library ... but in my mind, it's my Batcave).  I grew up on the classic TV show in reruns, and I really came of age during the first movie franchise from the late 80's/early 90's.

There's something aspirational about the superhero without superhero powers -- although being able to fund the development of all the Bat-items that money can buy is pretty powerful in its own right.  I've also said before, and particularly with the old TV show, there's a comfort in knowing the guest villain of the week (no matter how challenging), because then you can focus your energies on the known evil ... as opposed to the situation where you don't know and have to assume that maybe *everyone* harbors a little evil (hey -- what can I say -- it's a twisted world and I have a twisted mind).

Let me go on record ... if (when?) the lottery gets won and the mansion plans get drawn up ... there may be an ACTUAL Batcave as a part of it (just sayin').
