What southern Florida is talking about this week:
... blood.
Spilled on the dance floor in Orlando.
And donated at blood banks and bloodmobiles across that region.
There will be plenty of time LATER for the placing of blame and the politicizing of the issue and the trolling of the intewebs via the comments section. Just as there will be plenty of time LATER for the healing and the action toward a world protected from the evil of hate fueled by religious fervor on multiple sides and the pernicious fear of the "other".
Tonight, it's about doing what can be done immediately for those still fighting for their lives ... and about honoring those who were sacrificed in the latest mass shooting/terrorist event. Some bristle at the reaction of offering up our thoughts and prayers (because that's not changing a thing) ... but in the immediate aftermath of this kind of tragedy, they have a essential purpose -- because communities and families (both biological and just logical in nature) need to process something horrific and need that kind of support.
