What southern Florida is talking about this week:
Tri-Rail's lost and found.
Note ... that's NOT the kind of lost and found where you inquire when you accidentally left your bag behind on the "commuter rail line linking Miami, Fort Lauderdale, and West Palm Beach in Florida".
Instead, that's the kind where the Tri-Rail train itself gets "lost" when it goes off the track, and when the 911 folks don't quite know where it is and whether there are any people on it, and so emergency personnel take an extra half hour just trying to put all the pieces together to try to locate it to stop the fuel leak and save some people ... and ... you know ... find the train.
Unfortunately, it's not the first time this 911 department has contributed to the blooper files ... earlier this year, some poor sap had a mini-stroke while a 911 employee spent eight minutes on a call placing a specialized pizza order for lunch instead of responding to that crisis.
Bottom line ... in you find yourself in an emergency in these environs ... you are on your own. Best of luck to you!
