Random Memorial for Monday 4/4/16

Gone but not forgotten:  capital I internet.

(First, let me say that as tempted as I am to devote my post to the final scene of last night's finale of 'The Walking Dead', I'm going to resist that urge ... but ONLY for one week, to allow anyone to catch up before I give my two cents on the Lucille-hanger.)

So in its place ... something less controversial but just as earth shattering:  starting June 1, the Internet is no longer special enough to be deserving of a capital I.  [Pause for reader to gasp, call a loved one, find religion or schedule an appointment with a therapist.]

Let me repeat that for import -- in less than two months, it will no longer be proper to treat the Internet as a proper noun.  So sayeth the AP.

Of course, my go-to word for that which was once to be capitalized is interwebs, and I've never used the big I for that ... although I guess I'm not really the target audience as I don't think the AP would endorse my overuse of ellipses, my overwrought sentence structure (where I consider it a win to have braces [inside brackets {inside parentheses}]) and my overtendency to create my own words as I see fit ... so maybe this impending change is really for others.

Regardless, the age where the Internet was special and cool and unique and sparkly enough to warrant capitalization ... you will be missed.
