Random Memorial for Monday 4/13/15

Gone but not forgotten:  Günter Grass, who passed away today.

[I know ... I know ... I'm *rarely* timely, but this post is actually on point for 4.13.15.]

The accompanying photo is not provided by the fine folks at google as per usual, but is from my personal collection (which you might have been able to guess with that peek at my Batman basket there in the background), as my whole knowledge of all things Grass (Günter, that is) is due to my exposure to him in my undergrad studies.

After taking German as my high school language for four years (Hallo Fraülein Bomberger and Herr Heck!), I continued with it as my choice in college for my language credit and then ended up spending a semester abroad as part of an exchange program ... which convinced me to add German as a second major during my first round of undergrad studies, that being the *first* part of the decade I spent as a professional student (Hallo Herr Scott)!

He who gave us the unmistakable image of the boy who decided to stop growing at the age of three, who was never without his drum and whose voice could break glass ... du werden uns fehlen.
