Gone but not forgotten (possibly because they never were really gone in the first place): S P O R K S !
Gun to my head, I would have sworn that sporks were invented when I was in high school (although, the more interesting point to disclose might be ... who would have a gun to my head regarding that factoid?) ... but it seems that they have been around for much longer than I would have thought, at least according to the interwebs.
So maybe it was that, in the late 80's, the sudden appearance of sporks in the high school cafeteria ushered in the cost-cutting maneuvers of that time (the same ones that brought us the ketchup-counts-as-a-vegetable development, no doubt).
But for whatever the reason, I can't see a spork without going back to LHS circa 1988 or 1989 ... which is exactly where my mind went the other day when I ate at the KFC and took this photo of the fancy version of today's topic ... and it exactly proved that when it comes to the plastic spoon-fork of my youth ... at least by me, you were missed.
