What southern Florida is talking about this week:
Freeing Lolita.
NOT the one whose story was told by Vladimir (admit it ... I know that you immediately word-associated with her once you heard that name) ... but the one more closely associated with Willie of movie fame.
Turns out that the local Seaquarium down in Miami has a "performer" who was whale-napped years ago and who has a number of groups fired up to arrange for a retirement in freedom. I'll tell you ... I'm a fan of animals (most day, more so of animals than people, if I'm telling the truth) ... and zoos and such have always been a bit troubling for me. I'll be so bold to say that, what with the advances in modern nature photography, perhaps our "consumption" of information about animals we'd never get to see otherwise can be of the e-variety for future generations.
And maybe Lolita can end her days out of captivity ... and others like her will never know her fate ...
