Random Memorial for Monday 1/26/15

Gone but not forgotten:  the lack of equality when it comes to burger joints.

To whit ... the recent opening of 5 *Girls* Burgers nearby in Pompano Beach, as advertised in this local paper.

It goes without saying, but I'm assuming that the new place has good lawyers who have evaluated that name and assured the owners that the guys-of-five won't be chasing after them.  (To help with that potential issue, I'm guessing that these girls probably don't have peanuts available by the scoopful while you're waiting.)

Actually, according to the feature article linked below (or, if you're reading this on the Facebook, in a companion link to follow), this place is only run by one guy ... who happens to be honoring the five girls in his life (a mother, two sisters and two grandmothers).  Of course, this guy has chosen to do so by renaming his burgers as "broads" ... so whether that's nomenclature that makes one think of female equality, I'll leave up to the individual reader.

Days of saying "why does have it to be guys instead of girls when it comes to five of them making my meat sandwiches", you are no longer missed.
