From the Kap-files #22:
[Quick reminder about this countdown ... in 22 calendar days, my position is being eliminated at my job, and so I'm looking back through my files, mental or otherwise, representing nearly 11 years with the company ...]
#22: In this countdown that's only just begun, I've already mentioned how I "did my time" in the suburbs with my company, running what amounted to a perfect "starter center" at the onset of my career ... but how, eager to abandon a challenging commute, I jumped at the opportunity to switch to the location in the city of Chicago known as Lincoln Park (although zip code purists would debate the fact that we were on the wrong side of the street to actually be in Lincoln Park).
Of course, truth be told, working in that center didn't mean I spent *all* my time there, as our company's major clientele were on college campuses ... and so no reflection can be complete without considering all the time I occupied these two buildings (one of which no longer exists, thanks to campus construction/demolition projects). DePaul (in the corner) and Loyola (the main photo) were truly my work homes away from my work home. Many a flyer went up (and a few came down, in the years where that was permissible [if you know what I mean]), many a class was stormed (again, only those years when that was a favored practice), many a student's information was gathered, many a prize wheel was spun, many a class start was delivered, many a table was manned, many a competitor was outshouted, many a classroom was squatted, many a practice test event was executed ... many a memory was made and shared with many wonderful co-workers.
[Oh yeah ... and once I got locked in the ground floor of one of the buildings and feared I would never escape! But clearly ... I did ...]
