Random Scandal Sheet for Sunday 11/16/14

What East Central Texas is talking about this week:

It was my first time in Texas (and yes, I did get in and out without any issues at the border) ... so here are a *few* things that I noticed.

1.)  There were cows grazing everywhere.  Not moo cows like back home in PA that live a good long life so long as they keep on putting out, but "I'll have you medium rare when I eat you" type cattle ... and they seemed to have no idea about the short life ahead of them OR that I prefer them topped with fried onions and mushrooms and compound butter.

2.)  Everywhere else in the country was celebrating the unbelievably low gas prices.  But not Houston.  They were scurred (see the link below).

3.)  They were also cold.  Like "stay in and don't go out to the bars" cold.  But then again, I guess everybody was cold this past weekend.  Polar Vortex 2.0 knows no boundaries.  Except maybe all the way down to southern Florida -- maybe.  Those that did make it out were super friendly, though, so that was a plus.

4.)  For reals ... textbooks in Texas get rewritten to satisfy a certain agenda.  I thought that stuff was exaggerated, but the dumbing down of future Texans is actually a thing and was all over the Austin news when I was there (see the other link below).

Now time to plan for the next trip and to add some Dallas flavor to the mix.  Stay tuned ...
