What Chicago is talking about this week:
First of all -- Happy Labor Day weekend.
Second of all -- be safe out there.
We are fast becoming desensitized to the gun violence that is happening constantly in this city. How much so? After hearing story after story of multiple shootings, with a few fatalities and dozens more wounded ... I'm now getting disappointed that the thugs, thug-a-bees and other assorted gang-bangers don't develop better aim.
You know what else is as American as the flag and the apple pie and the gun ownership (although, admittedly, most of Chicago's violence is from illegally owned guns) -- pride in your work. If you are bound and determined to slaughter each other, do so with a little training and a little more accuracy please! The fatality to wounded ratio is beginning to be embarrassing in its own right.
[Clearly I'm being a little Hunger-Games-esque provocative here -- but, upon reflection, this idea might cut back on the innocent bystanders who are getting wounded randomly. Oh -- and to be certain -- should I be in your line of fire for any reason, please continue to display your piss poor shooting skills.]
