[ ... continuing with the construct I created for my Penn State posts this season ...]
Here are nine Nittany nuggets from today's game!
1.) Hey Texas -- how's our boy Anthony Fera doing down there? We sure do miss him and we think of him often (or, at least, we sure did think of him many times during today's game).
2.) Umm ... so before today, I thought cavalier was an attitude, not a mascot.
3.) Umm ... so when the announcer did the obligatory plug for the new ABC comedy Neighbors (about neighbors who are aliens) and the other announcer mentioned that he lives in LA, where he's pretty sure his neighbors are aliens, was that an innocent slip-up or an ill-placed commentary on immigration policies sneaking into the broadcast?
4.) Along the same lines as last week's observation -- now that I'm seeing the names of the players in my face each week, I can't help but giggle at some of them -- like Stankiewicz!
5.) I say this as a fan, but just because the theme of the Sandusky scandal was "missed opportunities" -- that does not mean that it should be the theme of this season of play!
6.) Matt McG -- not so much funny about that funny bone spot, eh?
7.) Stevie Bench -- so how was that for some fun? And true freshman does mean you were a high school senior just 90 days ago, right? Which would explain why you looked so young!
8.) I know concussions are bad and football is dangerous, but with all this attention paid to helmets popping off, I'm thinking of turning the constant discussion and reference to it into a drinking game.
9.) And to that point -- Day -- I know you're a "little" big guy, but get yourself a helmet that fits, please!
In closing, thank you Penn State Faculty Senate former chairpeople for saying that the sanctions were "disturbing" and that, while you agree "it's time to move forward ... by the same token, it would probably not be setting a good example for us to sit silent" ... and the countdown to our next post-season game in 2016 stands at 58 more games (and shake it off Sam Ficken)!
