Gone but not forgotten: Gilbert Gottfried as the AFLAC duck.
Fired today for insensitive posts about the disaster in Japan ... it's really no wonder that there's no love lost with him for that country. It turns out that Japan is a huge market for AFLAC and that his voice was not used in campaigns there because it was too abrasive (and the Japanese apparently don't like to be yelled at like we do in America). Additionally, the commercials were adjusted because it would have been rude to not address the duck (in America, the duck is ignored in the ads and just squawks "AFLAC" to deaf ears) -- so in Japan, the actors interact with the duck. Clearly, Gilbert was a little bitter.
More power to you with whatever project comes your way next, but in those annoying ads, you will NOT be missed.
