I don't mean to go off on a rant here, but ...
... I fear if Paul were updating his FB status with a post geared toward his friends in Corinth today, he might be hard-pressed to see things as half-full, and his words might have come out thusly:
"Hatred is not patient, hatred is not kind. It is consumed by envy, it frequently boasts, it is always proud. It is rude, self-seeking, easily angered and it forever keeps record of wrongs. Hatred delights in evil but shuns the truth. It always destroys, always betrays, always feeds on fears, and is always insidious. Hatred too often wins ... the worst of these is hatred."
As we continue to exist in a world reminiscent of the medieval Crusades, may we steel ourselves against the doctrines of hate (wherever and whenever they may rear their ugly heads -- in surprisingly new places each day) and may we seek out the enlightenment that comes from embracing love -- one for another. Amen.
