L V C || C L Memory 120
In 120 days, I'll be back on campus at my alma-mater at an extra special homecoming as Lebanon Valley College continues celebrating its 150th birthday. In honor of that countdown, here's memory #120: the first of two dedicated to the spring 1990 musical 'On The Town'.
What can I say? It was such a big event that it's going to take two memories just to fit everything in. Tonight, it's the paperwork ... the script ... a note about how assistant directors are special (did I mention that *I* was the assistant director?) ... my "notes" that I gave to the performers ... and some other assorted odds and ends.
INCLUDING the speech I got to give before the show each night: "Good evening and welcome to Lebanon Valley College's Little Theater for tonight's performance of 'On the Town'. We remind everyone to please refrain from eating, smoking or taking flash photographs throughout the show. There will be a fifteen minute intermission between the acts when refreshments will be available. A special thanks goes out to Hersheypark for their contribution to this evening's show. Thank for you your cooperation -- now sit back and enjoy the show!!"
How long ago was this? There was no reference to cell phones in that opening speech! As for why we were thanking Hersheypark ... stay tuned 'til tomorrow.
