Forest Bathing.
Used in a sentence: "Everywhere I turn, I keep on seeing it referenced ... so it's like it's calling out to me: Troy ... come engage in a little forest bathing."
Of course, the problem is that I don't live near any forests, and the Japanese concept of Shinrin-yoku doesn't translate to "everglades bathing" (plus that's likely not recommended what with all the pythons and the gators).
I'm sure bathing in the forest (note ... we're talking metaphorically, not literally) has been a concept of sorts for ages, but apparently it got the stamp of science in the early 80's in Japan as a way to combat the stress of urban living. And for the last few years in the US, it's been the trendy thing to do to get recharged.
The trick is to involve all five senses whilst cavorting out in the woods (and becoming a symbiotic host for a *tick* is NOT recommended) ... and then to reap the benefits of sensory immersion in nature. As for me, I've already added it to the itinerary for my fall trip that will take me back to my home state of PA ... now I just have to find some *other* way to detox from life's stresses until then ...
