Yep .. yet another sign that I live in southern Florida ... in addition to having to quickly learn what a "silver alert" is ... I also now know that I must be careful around cane wielding seniors.
All attempts at kidding aside, it's actually a great outreach run by any number of providers (including the police) to help those who may be the easiest targets of the unsavory elements in society strike back by teaching them what to do with their canes ... when they're not using them to walk, of course.
As someone who thought he might have to use a cane for a bit a few months ago (thankfully, my knees healed just fine by following the doctor's orders), I was intrigued when I saw the local news coverage. Now I'm just hoping that the folks at the CW create a new superhero show featuring elderly Floridians caning bad guys to go with all the other ones filling up their network.
