Random Scandal Sheet for Sunday 12/7/14

What southern Florida is talking about this week:

*This* guy (thanks Google for providing the image!):

Proving once again that if you look hard enough, you CAN find feel-good stories in the news ... *this* guy is Danny Haughton and he is (now) known locally as the "auto avenger".

Why?  Because he works in an office building located across from an abandoned lot near a grocery store where people park, only to get towed very quickly.  Why do they get towed away so quickly?  Because a paid "spotter" literally watches and calls people in as soon as they leave their car in the lot.

With just a little more investigation (see below), it turns out that this county is a tow company's dream and accusations of abuse have been levied before ... so much so that the commissioners needed to pass new rules and regulations last year -- including that there must be very specific signage and that paid spotters can't be used.  [Loophole alert -- one can't use paid spotters paid by the towing company ... but one *can* use paid spotters if they are paid by the lot owner.]

So kudos to you "auto avenger" Danny H ... and extra kudos to whomever your employer is, as they apparently permit you to conduct your superhero activities during the work day!  As Randy Jackson, who once was on American Idol, taught me to say ... "Good lookin' out!"
