100 Things I've Always Wanted To Say But Never Did And Now Maybe Should Since The World Might Be Ending -->
Thing 46:
File this under a desire to just go on the record about something ... but I don't care if the world is ending in 46 days, please still VOTE tomorrow (unless you've already done so, of course). No excuses -- no "I don't like either candidate" ... and no "I don't live in a competitive state" ... and no "but the Mayans promised me that we wouldn't see Inauguration Day in 2013". Of course, don't get it twisted -- it will still come down to the magic number 270 (that's our system -- I'm not talking out of both sides of my mouth and providing an excuse for you to opt out of the democratic process). And please start now to manage your expectations. Polls and pundits don't have anything on the creativity of our legal system. Resolution of this election could easily last as long as (or longer than) Gore/Bush '00. Once resolved, if you are dissatisfied, then increase your involvement -- which does not mean to double down on your FB status updates nor does it mean to choose to spew forth even more vitriol nor is it about fleeing to Canada or Alaska (depending on your party affiliation). But it does mean that you should get engaged. Join an organization. Create a relationship with your political representatives at all levels. And for the sake of the future of our democracy, support campaign finance reform and the reversal of the Supreme Court decision in Citizens United. Because let's face it -- the campaign for 2016 has really already started -- and even if its only 46 days long for apocalyptic reasons, it represents your NEXT chance to change things (after you VOTE tomorrow of course)!
