It's Back-to-School week ... which means most Back-to-School supplies have been purchased ... which means it is time to start thinking about the holidays (who am I kidding -- I think retailers begin pushing the holidays since the Fifth of July any more)!
So here's the beginning of my 2012 Christmas list:
First -- dear Santa, please make me Jewish for this holiday season. It's not that I'm having some religious epiphany, so much as I'm a bet hedger, and since Hanukkah is Dec 8-16, and Christmas is Dec 25 and they are separated by the end of the world on Dec 21, I just figured -- maybe, this once -- I could do the whole eight days of gifts that Adam Sandler was talking about in that song of his from my youth.
Second -- TV maestro Chuck Lorre is putting all of his vanity cards into a coffee table book. I think it's awfully vain of him to charge $100, but I do so like his style of comedy -- and posting a few paragraphs for every episode that he does reminds me a bit of my series of daily blog posts, so I feel somewhat "kindred" with him.
Third -- The Museum of Science and Industry announced that the special exhibit this winter (during all those December holidays) will be about Charles Schulz and his Peanuts gang. I miss my surrogate grandmother JoAnne a lot, and she once made me a little book of Peanuts comics and she did so enjoy them. Without it turning all "Monkey's Paw", I wouldn't mind if she could come back for the day the family goes to see it.
Fourth -- Ms. Sarkisian has promised us a new album and a new tour. Now there seems to be some confusion over whether it's going to happen this fall or early 2013, but to hedge my bets further that you can't turn me Jewish in time for 2012 Hanukkah, could you maybe postpone the apocalypse so I get a chance to hear and see her again. Of course, perhaps that won't be necessary, since she's been rumored to be one of the things that will survive any world disaster -- cockroaches and Cher, so they say!
TTYL, Santa!
AND NEXT YEAR, ASSUMING NO APOCALYPSE, IT STARTS IN NOVEMBER!:
