Random Tune for Tuesday 2/21/12

Hmmm ... what song to choose to go along with Fat Tuesday? I couldn't find any that celebrated the eating of Fasnachts (those of you back home should consider having one or a dozen on my behalf) ... nor did I understand any of the songs I found about Paczkis (the Polish alternative to Fasnachts big all over Chicago) ... so a little word association leads me to any song with the words New Orleans in it ... and the subversive side of me likes the fact that it's Sinead O'Connor's haunting version of this tune (since today and tomorrow are so Catholic-y after all).

Speaking of word association of sorts, the 20th season of my favorite Phil Keoghan hosted show started this past weekend so it's time for another Amazing Race Aside: Fasnachts remind me a little of empanadas (as featured on the latest episode) ... which in turn reminds me of the last time I had authentic Argentinian Empanadas at the restaurant near my Condado hotel in San Juan, Puerto Rico when I vacationed there pre-great-recession ... And can I just say that I'm so looking forward to this upcoming season for just some of the following reasons:

  • I want the KY Boys (that's an abbreviation for Kentucky, not boys who are sponsored by K-Y the product) to go far -- just to hear more down-home backwoods sayings ...

  • I want the Clown Couple to go far -- if only to hear how many clown related phrases there are (scratch tears of a clown off the list already) ...

  • I want the Border Patrol Pair to go far just on the hopes that they lose their passport in some kind of ironic twist ...

And one last word association plug of sorts -- speaking of going far, don't miss the documentary currently in rotation on Showtime featuring Phil's fund-raising-for-the-MS-society bike ride across America (entitled, simply enough, "The Ride").
