Random Wordplay for Wednesday 9/21/11

Go Cubs Go.

Used in a sentence: "Go Cubs Go (not in the sense of the Go Cubs Go song drunks sing when they stumble past the apartment, but more like that insurance commercial -- like go, honey, it's your break) -- the season is over!"

Some might say that the season was over before it began, or when Zambrano zoomed off, or when they played the Phillies (can't we just give them the World Series since it's so obviously theirs this year?) -- and erstwhile manager Mike yelled at them for complaining because "[the] ball's in the sun ... The sun's been in the same damn spot for however long Wrigley Field's been here!", but for me it's over because the last home game was played this afternoon, and now peace and quiet will descend upon the 'hood (at least until movie night on 10/1 or until Paul McC comes back to town).

Truth be told, my favorite part of this season was early on when they became the proud owners of this statistic -- a major league record for consecutive stops at the .500 mark to start a season. They were 1-1, 2-2, 3-3, 4-4, 5-5, 6-6, 7-7, 8-8, 9-9 and 10-10. If only they had managed that feat ... or even done the Pirates fake-out ... but no, it looks like there will always be a "there will always be next year".
