Random Memorial for Monday 9/13/10

Gone but not forgotten: making the rounds at the local Blockbuster to choose a holiday movie marathon.

As that movie rental place goes through its umpteenth round of bankruptcy-plus and as multitudes of movies are now available on demand through the DVR, this tradition has fallen by the wayside. It was an enjoyable part of the holiday routine back in the day, though -- a full half hour task to get from A to Z on the outer perimeter to find new movies that none of us had seen (or the rare movie that was worthy of a re-watch).

The process by which we came to be suspicious of the "slice of life" genre, you are missed.
