San Juan, we have a PR PR problem.
Used in a sentence, "With the recent cancellation of all Puerto Rican birth certificates and decision that the Boriquan born must apply for a new ultra-safe memorialization of their birth, I have to think that in San Juan, we have a PR PR problem."
Back home, growing up in PA, those with Puerto Rican connections were well represented -- and my affinity toward their culture continued with my seven years living in Logan Square near the largest PR community in Chicago and my back to back pre-recession vacations to the San Juan area (after which I wanted to rephrase the old bubble bath commercial to "coqui, coqui, take me away"). To think that their collective birthings are now all called into question (just when "show me your papers" is taking off across the country) breaks my heart a little. Surely there was a better way to accomplish this paperwork hygiene task than this!
AND IF YOU ARE BORIQUAN BORN AND DIDN'T KNOW THE RULE, 9/30 IS YOUR NEW DEADLINE:
