Random Memorial for Monday 6/14/10

Gone but not forgotten: budget infusions.

Because that is the opposite of budget cutbacks, right? I know we're supposed to be on the other side of the Great Recession, but its effects sure are lingering. And it's permeated every aspect of life: personal (fewer bar crawls for me!), professional (no more week-long gatherings in Chicago for my company's annual meeting culminating in Whirlyball -- we've gone virtual like so many others!), television (Clive Pearse just disappears as host from this season's next design star!) and government (how many states are hurting because sales tax income targets predicated on consumption can't be reached when no one has the cash to consume)! It might be time to start scraping up some of my change to "invest" in the lottery (because you can't win if you don't play). I guess these will be the stories that we'll tell our grandchildren.

Throwing money at a problem until it went away or at least bought you some time, you are missed.
