So it takes a village, right? A new children's book takes hard-to-grasp concepts and places them within the context of a 100 person village so that kids can understand large numbers, percentages and how we all fit together. For instance, in the "village called America", 15 people would trace their ancestry back to Germany, 11 back to Ireland, etc. But the lessons aren't just for the underage set (once you understand the concept) -- five people share more than half of the wealth in the USA (and one person controls 30%) and the 60 poorest people share 4%. I'm not advocating that we move to a different spot on the Socialism/Capitalism continuum -- just that we pause to think.
